Haha! I do that, too. I had no plans for my MC to become a certain way (basically dressed up as a vigilante just for the sake of appearances and doing something that's not even remotely in her character.....and then her nemesis did outrageous things in how he acted and it affected her actions, in turn...blahblahblah). Anyway, I'm not sure if it is in keeping with the story at all, but at least I did Something...spiced it up. And hey, maybe I'll come back to it later and realize it all makes sense in some strange way...even if I have to tone it down a bit.
Doing something different and outrageous gets the juices flowing and sometimes takes up to (good) places we never thought we'd go!
So good on you for not letting the unusable words get you down and still finding some fun in it all. I can tell you Are a writer!!!

Wow! Five years...that's quite a while, but you're so right. The other night I sat down and wrote a couple thousand words of my novel. It had been so long since I'd touched it that I didn't even know what I was doing at first. I was second-guessing every word, it seemed... But after a few hundred words, I started to get back into the flow and just .... wrote. It may not all be usable, which is something I'm (luckily) not used to, but at least I have more of the story out there and I'm that much closer to the completed product. And I feel that much more in touch with being me, which is most important of all. Good luck!! Just keep on writing..no matter what it is, as you said :)

That fog settles in every so often, but I think even worse is when I can write all day long and not say anything meaningful. If "writer's block" is being dead, then I equate this to a zombie. That is when I turn to humor. To make something snarky, sarcastic or downright ridiculous is my way of injecting creativity into something that is otherwise boring as all get out.

You certainly are not alone. I can relate completely. I've been without my spark for some time now, almost 5 years in fact. It does indeed feel like a part of me has died. But, while I am no where near "cured," sometimes it is best to sit down and go through the motions. Even if it is a few paragraphs of dreck that ends up right in the bin, at least it is writing something.

Good post, thanks! It's good to know I'm not alone.
