Bruce, it's Foxfire, yes, and I still have mine, but not a complete set. Those books are some of my all-time favorites.

The last paragraph or so really says it. If nothing else, the Sci Fi writers can use a lot of this for their new colonies on other planets.

I even used to have a set of the Firefox books -- or is it Foxfire?

What an awesome idea. I tell stories all the time about my family history, but haven't written very many down either. Very touching!

Family members do not even have to be "storytellers" to obtain a great history from them. My husband's father passed away in Sept 1999, leaving behind a shoebox full of photos which he had, for some unknown reason, refused to sort and label. Shortly after his passing, my husband suggested that I contact my Grandmother and talk to her about her life. I called, and before I could ask her about it, she commented to me, "You know, Eleanor, it's funny. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I remember my childhood like it was yesterday." I shared my idea, and she began writing. She wrote for months, filling notebooks with her life story. When I presented the typed draft, she pulled out photo albums, showing me her old family pictures, which I had not seen. What a treasure trove! We integrated some of them into the draft and had her story burned to a CD and sent them to family members. I had my copy spiral bound and printed. We have a priceless story of her life, and it is a classic American tale of life through the 20th century. (1915 to 2008).
